LASIK, the most advanced form of refractive surgery can correct nearsightedness, astigmatism and farsightedness takes only a few minutes, and is performed on an outpatient basis. Most patients are able to return to their normal activities the very next day, with clear vision and no discomfort.
Photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) is a simple laser surgical technique that corrects nearsightedness, astigmatism and farsightedness allowing many patients to function without glasses. It complements existing tried and true refractive procedures. The visual results of PRK and LASIK are essentially the same.
Current scientific studies available show that refractive surgery is safe and quite successful. In our practice, over 99% of our patients achieve between 20/20 and 20/40 vision without their glasses or contacts. (Good enough to pass the driver's test).
While refractive surgery is generally considered elective, some insurance companies now cover the cost of the procedure. We will gladly be of assistance in contacting your insurance company to determine coverage. For non-insured patients, other payment options are available including VISA, Mastercard and patient financing.
Please feel free to call us at (831) 476-8033 if we can be of assistance in scheduling the appointment that is best for you. Plager Vision Center also offers free seminars each month. At these seminars you can meet Dr. Plager, have a free screening, and speak with some of our patients who have had Refractive Surgery.
We want to serve you!
